THE STORY BEHIND 25/8
BECAUSE BASIC WAS NEVER THE PLAN.
25/8 started with a 14-year-old looking at school shirts and thinking the same thing a lot of students were probably already thinking:
“Why are these shirts so boring?”
That 14-year-old was Jermaine Louis, the young creative mind and CEO behind the 25/8 vision.
He wasn’t trying to start some huge brand at first. He just knew that if students were going to represent their schools, teams, cities and communities, the clothes should actually look like something they wanted to wear.
Not just something you put on for spirit day and throw in a drawer afterward.
Jermaine wanted school apparel to feel like streetwear—something you could wear to the game, wear to school, wear to the mall, wear in pictures and still want to wear when nobody told you to dress in school colors.
That simple thought became the spark behind 25/8.
“THEY NEED BETTER SHIRTS.”
Jermaine started paying attention to the shirts around him. Same mascot. Same block letters. Same layout. Different year.
He felt like schools had way more personality than the apparel representing them.
Every school has its own culture, traditions, rivalries, athletes, history and energy. So why shouldn’t the clothes show that?
Jermaine didn’t want to simply place a school logo on a T-shirt. He wanted to build a look around it—vintage sports graphics, oversized prints, streetwear-inspired layouts, distressed details, player-focused designs, bold typography and limited drops.
Pieces that feel more like a clothing collection than ordinary school merchandise.
That became the 25/8 mindset:
DON’T JUST PRINT IT. REIMAGINE IT.
SO… WHY 25/8?
Because 24/7 wasn’t enough.
25/8 represents going beyond what everybody else is doing. One more hour. One more day. One more idea. One more revision. One more level.
It’s the mentality of asking, “How can we make this harder?”
Not harder as in complicated. Harder as in better. Cleaner. More original. More memorable. More us.
If everybody else is doing the expected thing, 25/8 is supposed to be the version that makes you stop scrolling.
SCHOOL SPIRIT, BUT MAKE IT FASHION.
This is where Jermaine’s vision really started growing.
He didn’t want 25/8 to become another company making generic spirit shirts. He wanted to rebrand the whole idea of school spirit.
School pride doesn’t have to look traditional. A school shirt can feel like streetwear. A mascot design can feel like a vintage sports drop. A game-day shirt can look like something you found in a boutique. A senior shirt can actually feel like something seniors want to wear after graduation.
That’s what Jermaine sees when he thinks about 25/8.
Not merchandise. Collections.
Not just logos. Identity.
Not just school colors. Culture.
THEN HE STARTED THINKING BIGGER.
Once Jermaine started thinking about school apparel differently, the ideas kept coming.
Because why stop at schools?
What about local football, basketball, cheer, baseball and youth sports programs? What about the coaches, parents, players and fans who show up every week?
Every team has its own vibe, and every player wants to feel like they’re part of something.
Jermaine’s vision is to make local sports apparel feel major—player-name graphics, game-day collections, team drops, coach gear, parent gear, championship designs, senior-night apparel and custom fan wear.
The type of pieces that make a local athlete feel like they already have their own merch.
Because to the people showing up every week to watch them play? They do.
AND THEN CAME THE HOLIDAYS.
Jermaine had another thought: why does holiday apparel have to look exactly like holiday apparel?
Same Christmas graphics. Same Valentine’s Day sayings. Same predictable designs every year.
So the 25/8 vision expanded again.
Christmas—but streetwear. Halloween—but different. Valentine’s Day—without looking like everybody else’s shirt. Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Juneteenth, graduation, family reunions, birthdays, homecoming, local events and seasonal drops—all with a 25/8 point of view.
The goal isn’t to make another holiday shirt.
It’s to make a shirt you would’ve wanted anyway. The holiday just gave us an excuse to drop it.
MEET THE 14-YEAR-OLD CEO.
Here’s the part that makes 25/8 a little different.
Jermaine isn’t a grown-up sitting in an office trying to guess what young people think is cool.
He is the young person.
At 14, he’s part of the exact generation the brand is speaking to. He sees what students actually wear. He sees what’s trending. He notices what gets posted, what gets ignored and when something looks forced.
Under the name Jermaine Louis, he stepped into the role of young visionary and CEO behind 25/8.
And he’s still learning. That’s part of the story too.
He’s learning how a design becomes a product, how an idea becomes a brand, how customers think, how trends move, how business decisions get made and how much work happens behind the scenes before a finished product ever reaches somebody’s hands.
But the biggest thing Jermaine brings to 25/8 can’t really be taught:
Perspective.
He looks at something everybody else is used to seeing and asks, “Why does it have to look like that?”
That’s where some of the best 25/8 ideas begin.
FROM LOCAL TO EVERYWHERE.
25/8 is starting close to home—with local schools, local athletes, local teams, local families and local culture.
Jermaine believes you don’t have to be from Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta or some major fashion city to create something people want to wear.
Big ideas can start anywhere.
Even from a conversation at home.
Even from looking at a boring school shirt.
Even from a 14-year-old saying:
“I can make that better.”
The long-term vision is to take the 25/8 concept beyond the local area—to different schools, different cities, different teams and different communities—without making them all look the same.
The goal isn’t to turn every school into 25/8. The goal is to let 25/8 bring out what already makes that school different.
THIS ISN’T JUST A T-SHIRT BRAND.
25/8 is about giving people a better way to represent what they’re connected to.
Your school. Your team. Your city. Your family. Your season. Your moment. Your culture.
And as Jermaine grows, the brand grows with him.
The ideas will get bigger. The collections will get better. The reach will get wider.
But the original idea stays the same:
STOP MAKING BORING SHIRTS.
Create something people actually want to wear.
25/8
YOUNG MIND. BIG VISION. NO BASIC DESIGNS.
Started at 14. Built from an idea. Inspired by the culture around us. Created for the generation coming next.
And we’re just getting started.
